How to Maintain Clean Air Duct Cleaning Systems

Air duct cleaning is a process whereby an air duct system service professional clears the air ducts in your home or building of any materials or debris that may be contaminating. The National Air Duct Cleaning Association recommends that the air ducts in homes be inspected every two years, and actually cleaned every three to five years. The professional cleaning team at JCS Home Services in Northern Virginia stands by and follows all of the cleaning methods set forth by The National Air Duct Cleaning Association.

How does it work?

First the cleaning service team will locate the HVAC system in your home, then find all of the registers connected to it. They will then cover all vents, grills and important furniture (beds, baby crib etc.) in every room. A machine system will be brought in and placed as close to the HVAC system as possible. A connector hose will be connected to the ducts by cutting a small hole, which will be patched as soon as the cleaning is done. They will connect to every register. Once the cleaning is complete, it is given a thorough inspection that aligns with the JCS Home Service standards. The entire air duct cleaning process normally takes about two and a half to three and a half hours.

What to do before the cleaning service arrives

Some things you can do in preparation for the air duct cleaning service are: cover anything valuable, or anything that you do not want to be seen, make sure that animals are put away so as not to be disturbed because the cleaners will be in every room. You can also dress appropriately since they will be turning off the heat or air conditioning. Make sure you have new filters for the service to install after the cleaning is finished.
